ABOUT THE ROLE:The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • Onsite position weekdays.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Salary range $64000$72000/year (exempt).
  • Salary based on skills and experience.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to clients across the lifespan throughout Helping Hands outpatient clinic day program and/or residential program; focus on evidencebased clientcentered care for all clients.
  • Complete evaluations daily notes treatment plans progress reports as required and annual reevaluations for all clients on caseload; complete all documentation ethically accurately and timely; coordinate with billing coordinator and Associate Director of Clinical Services to complete insurance authorizations
  • Collaborate with supervisor to maximize billing and client care and participate in formal supervision with supervisor at least monthly.
  • Provide home programming and training to parents/guardians/caregivers to ensure carryover of therapy; provide parent education in a genuine and supportive way.
  • Maintain a caseload of 35 clients/week with an average billing expectation of 120 hours/month; eligible for quarterly bonus incentives based on billable hours.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and meet with fellow team members as needed to support client goals.
  • In partnership with the Associate Director participate in and/or plan parent educational presentations related to occupational therapy services and treatment as well as Helping Hands clinical services.
  • Meet quality and compliance requirements as set forth by Helping Hand DHS IDPH CARF and other pertinent regulations including the fulfillment of all necessary training requirements.
  • Observe precautions and procedures to protect the security of protected health information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Work on a multidisciplinary team with other clinicians serve as an active member of the care team for clients and attend client IDT meetings as needed.
  • Must attend all team/agency meetings as scheduled and actively participate in agency committees such as Intake HRC/BMC etc. as assigned.
  • Maintain a regular work schedule along with being available and dependable during varying hours including evening and weekends in accordance with the positions needs.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner by meeting deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

LAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:

Education/Training:

  • Masters or doctorate degree in occupational therapy.
  • Current unrestricted active occupationl therapy license with the state of Illinois.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience working with individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience supervising Level I and Level II occupational therapy students (preferred).

Skill Sets:

  • Ability to fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency including but not limited to crisis management (crisis mangagement training includes deescalataion strategies and physical management techniques).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional problemsolving and time management skills.
  • Proficient and comfortable with technology such as Microsoft Office Teams Zoom etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize multiple priorities as required.
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record and proof of ongoing personal motor vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist clients/students access file cabinets office machinery etc.
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in file cabinets or assist clients/students.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The person in this position may encounter clients exhibiting physical aggression; must be comfortable working in periods of crisis and feel comfortable deescalating individually or as a team.
