The Department of Mathematics at Saint Augustines SAU is seeking an applicant for a fulltime tenuretrack position in actuary science at the assistant/associate professor level. In addition to teaching the applicant must bring a research background and will participate in grant writing and student research training. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics engineering mathematics and actuary science. Other responsibilities include curriculum development and assessment University committee service student advising and maintaining a high level of professional activity. Preference will be given to those candidates who strive to be master teachers who are committed to the mentoring of students who have a welldeveloped research agenda and grant funds in addition to a strong desire for securing additional external funding. A 1215hour teaching load (four/five courses) is expected each semester. Release time will be according to secured external grant funding. Additional duties may include serving as Program Coordinator of Mathematics which will also account for a 1 course release. Additionally other responsibilities/duties may be added at the discretion of the Chair Dean or Provost. Saint Augustines University SAU drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution is a studentfocused comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. A fouryear liberal arts university with an average enrollment of approximately 1000 SAU sits on 105 lush acres just north of Downtown Raleigh NC. The institution offers more than 20 undergraduate degrees and a Master of Public Administration MPA Program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges SACSCOC . Additional Information: Employment is contingent upon a positive background check and proof of COVID 19 vaccination. Documentation of medical and religious exemptions will be accommodated. Ph.D. in mathematics physics actuary science or engineering with the requisite coursework is required. Masters Degree candidates will not be considered.
