Caterpillar Inc. seeks Embedded SW Senior Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive Chillicothe IL 61523.

Perform software development with specific responsibilities for developing Telematics onboard monitoring software used in Electronic Controller Module for machine and engine applications. Development may include any or all the following: concept design test and promote new features and processes. Perform requirements analysis and decomposition. Evaluate new technologies development tools or processes. Manage the software lifecycle through version control and configuration management and communicate technical information to Stakeholders. Contribute to the planning and delivery of complex embedded software projects by providing upfront design approach guidance to all software feature work code review for software developed and support software technology development strategy and roadmap. Support & advise to other engineers managers customers and suppliers. Role includes the tasks of developing application features of Telematics Onboard Monitoring Software within a global AGILE team. All application features developed will then be validated in actual Electronic Control Modules such as network manager ECU and radios. All development is done using C under Linux OS leveraging Object Oriented Design extensively. Using PlantUML to create workflows and design interactions between the classes is also a must. Functional and unit test will be performed using CANoe panel. Google C test framework will also be leveraged to drive test driven development.

REQS: This position requires a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer & Systems Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field and five 5 years of experience as a Software Developer Software Engineer or related occupation in the field of automotive machine or industrial embedded network communication software development.

Alternatively the employer will accept a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer & Systems Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field and three 3 years of experience as a Software Developer Software Engineer or related occupation in the field of automotive machine or industrial embedded network communication software development.

Additionally the applicant must have employment experience with: 1 Software Applications such as Canoe and Apache Thrift; 2 Testing Tools such as Canoe simulator and Google Unit Test; 3 C programming Embedded software development and in Operating Systems such as Linux and Windows; 4 Languages such as JavaScript HTML UML and CAPL; 5 Object Oriented Design; 6 UML Tools in developing designs through UML diagram; and 7 CAN/J1939 protocol and using CAN based tools such as CANoe.

$132101..00
