As a Billing Specialist you will play a vital role in managing the billing process and supporting the Director of Finance and Operations ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims and providing exceptional service to our clients and insurance partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster and maintain a welcoming traumainformed and safe environment for all clients.
- Utilize the agencys EHR to process insurance claims and invoices accurately.
- Build strong relationships with insurance care managers serving as the primary contact for all insurance claims.
- Verify client payer source and eligibility submit claims investigate rejected claims and follow up on claims as needed.
- Identify trends with denied claims and communicate insights to the leadership team.
- Assist with client billing inquiries and address account questions.
- Compile and maintain current provider data (NPI CAQH Paneling) for all staff qualified by license or certification.
- Track license and certification expirations in BambooHR ensuring timely renewals.
- Monitor provider and agency credentialing and recredentialing applications ensuring they are completed and followed up on in a timely manner.
- Aid in obtaining insurance authorization as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
- Two years of experience in data entry medical billing managed care companies accounting or a related field.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Preferred:
- Experience working with medical and behavioral health terminology and treatment methodologies.
- Previous experience with insurance companies and payer sources.
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and credible coding knowledge.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certifications are a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of medical and behavioral health terminology disease processes and treatment methodologies.
- Ability to organize and meet deadlines consistently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from diverse ethnic racial cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit use hands to operate tools or controls and talk or hear.
- The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Work is performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
