Job Description

Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro UNCG seeks an experienced collaborative and ambitious advancement professional as it prepares to embark on its next phase of transformation and growth. The AVC will oversee all university advancement fundraising positions assigned to schools and units across the university. The AVC will work with the current team to creatively identify new donors pursue knownbutuntapped prospects and further engage existing donors. The AVC will identify and harness the full breadth of cases for support that UNCGs mission and programs present building a program that achieves both shortterm success and longterm goals which will ultimately be transformative for the university. The AVC must become an integral member of the Greensboro community and take an active interest in the economic and cultural vitality of the city and the surrounding region. The AVC will reflect and embody the values of UNCG and its leadership and serving the wider community with integrity warmth humility grace and humor. Responsibilities and Duties Strategic Fundraising Operations : Assess the effectiveness and potential of the existing advancement program; architect and build a strategic advancement operation to broaden and strengthen outreach efforts and provide sustainable and impactful philanthropic support. Advancement Strategy : Craft and implement a comprehensive multiyear advancement strategy that will drive philanthropic support for institutional priorities aiming for annual increases in philanthropic revenue. Fundraising Leadership : Work with the VC central development and the prospect research teams to evaluate philanthropic capacity identify growth areas and craft fundraising strategies to raise volunteer and donor involvement at all levels. Personally cultivate solicit and steward a select portfolio of major and principal gift prospects and donors. Team Building and Management : Assess the current team filling open positions and hiring new staff as necessary. Build a highquality diverse team capable of meeting the needs of UNCG . Foster a professional environment that recognizes and rewards performance supports innovation and risktaking builds confidence and encourages teamwork. Operational Efficiency : Identify and address opportunities to streamline processes and optimize overall efficiency productivity and collaboration among staff members. Promote excellence through welldefined and measurable goals. Public Representation : Effectively represent the University and Office of University Advancement at University and community events.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree required plus a minimum of eight to ten years of progressively responsible fundraising and managerial experience building the infrastructure of an advancement program preferably within higher education and a campaign setting. Depth of knowledge of best practices and all key areas of advancement.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success increasing the effectiveness of an existing development program and its staff including individual and institutional philanthropy through established objectives and performance standards and resulting in a transformative increase in philanthropic revenue for an organization. Proven success creating a team and goaloriented environment that empowers staff through active communication and delegation and that builds confidence promotes diversity of thought and celebrates achievements. Demonstrated success personally cultivating soliciting and stewarding major gifts from individuals foundations and corporations. The credibility emotional maturity authenticity and sound judgment required to effectively engage and leverage University leadership and volunteers in the cultivation solicitation and stewardship of key prospects and donors. Superb personal communications skills both written and oral; the ability to understand and translate information for all audiences; clarity crispness and elegance in writing and speaking. Record of creative and entrepreneurial management; the ability to inspire build lead mentor and motivate staff; and to encourage change and growth in both people and programs. A strong commitment to personal and professional development and the ability to build a robust autonomous and collaborative team. Outstanding interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization and from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds. High degree of integrity character and emotional maturity demonstrating respect for individuals at every level of an organization; humility a sense of humor and life balance; an outgoing optimistic personality; strong executive presence; commitment to the highest standards of professionalism. A desire to deeply engage in the University and local community. Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred.
