Summary
TheOccupational Therapist is responsible for patient evaluation treatment recorddocumentation and teaching of therapeutic programs. The therapist is also responsible foraccurate and effective communication with referral sources patients and thesupport staff. Finally the therapist isresponsible for direct supervision of the clinical support team. Provides treatment care and safety ofpatients regardless of race creed age (e.g. infants children adolescentsadults geriatrics ages 0 120 years) gender or disability without bias orprejudice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provideevaluation for clients not limited to joint assessment musculoskeletalfunctions sensorimotor skills functional and work abilities.
Developa treatment plan based on data collected as well as implement monitor andmodify plan to achieve goals.
Provideoccupational therapy techniques not limited to ROM joint mobilizationmassage myofascial release desensitization techniques dressing changes andjob simulation.
Utilizethermal and electrical physical agent modalities not limited to providinghot/cold packs fluidotherapy paraffin/contrast baths ultrasoundphonophoresis TENS NMES iontophoresis.
Fabricatecustom splints select/order adaptive devices/equipment and train client in use.
Communicateeffectively with staff regarding clients condition and also may include theirphysician rehab nurse case manager employer and family members to ensureconsistent quality occupational therapy services.
Providea written status report to referring physician each time client is to see theirphysician and when is a workmans comp case to other appropriate parties.
Participatesin administration of the assigned facility as requested by the Director of HandTherapy.
Maintainsa working knowledge of current rehabilitation techniques and proceduresincluding knowledge of therapeutic equipment proper operation and maintenance.
Practicesoccupational therapy in accordance with all company policies which shall alwaysrepresent currently approved methods and standards of practice as defined bythe American Occupational Therapy Association.
Practicesin compliance with the currently approved and published guidelines ofProfessional Conduct and Codes of Ethics of the American Occupational TherapyAssociation.
Maintainsconfidentiality of all current and former patients as defined by companypolicy.
Deliverspatient care under the referral of a physician licensed to practice in theState of Louisiana.
Administersoccupational therapy techniques relative to indications precautions andcontraindications.
Administersoccupational therapy treatment with regard to patients social psychologicaland emotional status.
Documentsthe patients medical record on the initial visit and all subsequent followupvisits in a professionally acceptable method using Cerner our current EMRsystem.
Reportsany and all changes in the patients condition to the referring physician.
Assistthe support team in maintaining a safe and comfortable working environment.Reports problems and suggestions to the Director of Hand Therapy.
Directlysupervises all patient care provided by any member of the support team
Administersappropriate charges for services rendered based on the company standard feeschedule.

Advanced Orthopedic and SpineCertification Requirements
(CR.1c) As partof the Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification at a minimum the Programdirectcare staff must have eight 8 hours of education specific to theProgram scope initially and at least annually thereafter.
(CR.1e) As partof the Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Certification staff possess adaptabilityto processes as related to up to date best practices collaboration betweendepartments compliance with protocols/processes communication cooperationand exceptional customer service.

Regulatory Requirements
BS degree or higher from an accredited schoolof physical or occupational therapy.
Current Physical Therapy or OccupationalTherapy License as required by the state regulatory agency.
CHT certification preferred. Must be interestedin pursuing CHT Certification while eligibility requirements are met.
Minimum of one year clinical experience in handtherapy preferred.
BLS certification required.
Skills
Ability to communicate effectively in Englishboth verbally and in writing.
Basiccomputer knowledge.
Physical Demands
The physicaldemands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Whileperforming the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talkand hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions standingwalking bending kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequentlylift or move items weighing up to 100 pounds.
