Job Description
Your Team
We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join our Backend & Data Team an expert who develops maintains and manages data processing pipelines to ensure consistent and efficient data delivery for downstream consumers such as analytics or machine learning applications.
Your playing field at Gini
- Data Pipelines and Integration: You develop manage and optimize data processing pipelines integrating external data sources for enrichment and ensuring scalability efficiency and consistency for downstream analytics or machine learning
- Database and System Design: You create and maintain data models schemas and metadata; ensure databases meet scalability safety and efficiency requirements; and collaborate with platform engineering for maintenance
- Backend Development: You design implement and maintain backend services including architecture design technology selection and integration of software patterns container technologies and message brokers (e.g. Kafka RabbitMQ)
- Team Collaboration: You collaborate with crossfunctional teams mentor junior developers lead technical discussions and contribute to team strategy and system improvements while addressing technical debt
- Quality and Optimization: You proactively troubleshoot debug and resolve backend issues; identify performance bottlenecks security vulnerabilities and scalability challenges and support quality improvements
- Agile and Stakeholder Engagement: You actively engage in agile ceremonies adapt to changing priorities estimate tasks effectively and communicate progress risks and challenges with stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement: You stay updated with industry trends emerging technologies and best practices to improve backend systems and align with organizational goals
Skills to be successful
- You have 5 years of experience in backend development data engineering or a similar role with expertise in building and maintaining scalable systems
- You have strong proficiency in programming languages like Java Python Scala or Kotlin as well as automation and CI/CD practices
- You possess practical experience with diverse database technologies (e.g. SQL NoSQL Cassandra Elasticsearch Kafka) and database optimization techniques
- You are experienced in designing and managing data pipelines integrating external data sources and ensuring data scalability and efficiency
- You are proficient with container technologies (e.g. Docker Podman) and orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes) as well as messaging systems (e.g. RabbitMQ Kafka)
- You excel at troubleshooting and debugging backend systems addressing performance bottlenecks and improving system scalability and security
- You are familiar with agile methodologies actively participating in sprint planning standups and retrospectives while staying updated on emerging technologies and best practices
