Job Summary
TheSenior Water Resources Engineerwill join our team in West Columbia SC to support a variety of transportation projects across the Southeast. If you are seeking a role that combines technical expertise with the chance to work on innovative infrastructure initiatives then this position is perfect for you. As the Senior Water Resources Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the successful completion of both traditional designbidbuild and alternative delivery infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling scour analysis highway drainage design and stormwater management. This position qualifies for a signon bonus.
Within our Hydrologic and Hydraulic Services you will find a diverse range of responsibilities that will allow you to showcase your skills and expertise. From roadway drainage plans to bridge hydraulic analysis storm sewer design ditch design culvert analysis pond design energy dissipation design FEMA analysis flood control modeling scour analysis riverine analysis for multidimensional flow erosion and sediment control NPDES permitting and stormwater management you will have the chance to work on a wide range of innovative infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare drainage design for highway and bridge construction projects to include technical planning design and construction support for hydrologic and hydraulic models erosion control stormwater abatement and green infrastructure.
- Review documents and design work for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Perform engineering calculations and develop hydrologic and hydraulic models.
- Responsible for drainage designs profiles stormwater alleviation state stormwater management plan requirements and pavement drainage.
- Mentor junior staff and interns in hydrology and hydraulics.
- Perform field investigations and assessments of project sites to aid in the hydraulic design process some travel may be required in the Southeast.
- Prepare and assist with specifications and permit submittals.
- Develop preliminary project cost estimates and evaluating quantities.
- Review documents and design work for DOT compliance with plans and specifications.
- Attend client public project and staff meetings including client progress plan review and preconstruction.
Qualifications
- Drainage design bridge culvert modeling scour analysis and erosion control experience required.
- Understanding of SCDOT practices required; experience working with DOTs in the Southeast desired.
- Prior experience with SCDOT hydraulic design highly desired.
- Expert experience utilizing civil engineering modeling software to include MicroStation HydroCAD Geopak drainage and HECRAS.
- Must have math calculation skills MS Office (Word Excel Outlook) experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US with a valid drivers license and a safe driving record.
- Must complete a preemployment screening; ICE is a drugfree workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of science in civil engineering or environmental engineering is required a masters degree desired.
- PE required; PE in SC and/or GA desired.
- 715 years of water resources experience to perform drainage design on highway and bridge construction projects is desired.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects and proficiency in recognizing sound tone and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
When performing field work the role involves moderate physical activity such as walking standing bending and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 3050 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough site inspections. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions including hot cold and noisy settings and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic conditions or traversing wetlands and wooded areas.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days per week.
