We are seeking a RF/Microwave & Test engineer to support the Communication Electronics Department with insertion of GaN and RF integrated circuits into the nations sensor and communications space systems. You will setup and perform measurements on RF microwave and mmwave integrated circuits (MMICs/RFICs) and modules extract nonlinear and noise models for devices and perform circuit analysis and design all in a dynamic research and development environment. This role will also have opportunities to grow and develop new skills and areas of expertise including but not limited to: passive microwave component design communications systems MMIC design hybrid MIC design phased array systems rapid prototyping RF PCB design and analog circuit design.
Work Model:This role will require onsite support in El Segundo but have the flexibility to support in a hybrid work model 20
What Youll Be Doing
Deeply understand and operate the latest advanced microwave equipment such as wafer probe stations load pull tuners signal analyzers and network analyzers to measure onwafer and fixtured measurements such as Sparameters large signal power and efficiency linearity load pull noise parameters/figure EVM and pulsed IV
Extract nonlinear and noise models for IIIV semiconductor devices
Lead the creation of DC and RF fixtures for high power and high temperature tests
Mentor and train more junior engineers on device modeling and measurement
Develop test plans and ensure lab readiness
Solve microwave hardware anomalies using analytical methods and experimental setups
Collaborate onsite with other engineer and technicians
What You Need to be Successful Engineering Specialist
Minimum Requirements:
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university and at least 6 years of experience
Handson ability to assemble tune test and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment
Experience with onwafer probe measurements and techniques
Experience inspecting handling and manipulating small ESDsensitive components using tweezers microscopes or related tools
Experience with data analysis with Excel Python OR MATLAB
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Demonstrated creativity in problemsolving an ability to rapidly grasp new concepts and excellent written/verbal communication skills
Ability to engage others and influence technical decisions
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required.
In addition to the above the minimum requirements for Senior Engineering Specialist:
Ten or more years related (including post graduate studies) in any of the abovementioned microwave engineering areas
Deep understanding of microwave measurement techniques and equipment
In depth knowledge of nonlinear and noise models for IIIV semiconductor devices
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead small teams of engineers and/or technicians
Experience with any microwave circuit analysis or electromagnetic simulation software such as ADS HFSS or similar
Experience in one or more of the following
RF/Microwave circuits and systems
Electromagnetics
Analog circuit design
MMIC and/or RFIC design
Phased Arrays
Current SECRET or TS//SCI clearance
