Position Description
Scribe medical reports for inclusion in the patients medical record under the supervision of the physician/midlevel provider. Assist in accurately documenting office visits office procedures in office administration of medications etc. including examination diagnosis and followup instructions as directed by the provider.Enter verbal orders for labs imaging medications and surgical procedures as directed by the provider.
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant and/or medical terminology knowledge preferred.
Above average typing skills required.
Essential Functions:
Communicate to manager issues relating to scribing (e.g. new canned text that has been developed an issue a physician may be having etc. as needed and in transcription meetings. Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the transcription area.
Perform quality reviews to provide feedback to manager and Director for continuous improvement. This includes tracking of character counts turnaround times by work type and other reports to support daily input/output.
Coordinate the training of new scribes and provide necessary support for their growth and development. Assist physicians in creating and updating canned text as appropriate.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients families visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional responsible and courteous environment.
Follows the Hospital Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plans attends all required Safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety department/service safety specific jobrelated hazards.
