Job Description

A mixed veterinary practice in Wexford is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team. This fulltime permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a modern purposebuilt facility committed to providing topquality veterinary care.

The role encompasses a blend of Small Animal (SA) and Large Animal (LA) responsibilities with a focus on routine farm visits TB testing and performing standard surgical procedures. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of eight veterinarians supported by a skilled nursing and administrative staff in a practice that values teamwork and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting routine onfarm calls for both Small and Large Animal patients.
  • Performing TB testing and routine surgeries for Large Animals.
  • Delivering comprehensive veterinary care across a diverse range of species.
  • Collaborating closely with a supportive team within a modern wellequipped environment.
  • Participating in a shared oncall rota with a neighboring practice.
  • Managing a varied caseload with an approximate split of 60 Small Animal and 40 Large Animal work.

Working Hours:

  • Fulltime averaging 40 hours per week.
  • Participation in a 1 in 4 weekend rotation.
  • Outofhours duties are shared with another local practice.

Applicant Requirements:

  • VCI registration.
  • Qualified and experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong foundation in Large Animal (LA) practice.
  • Must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland and certified to perform TB testing.
  • Confident and proficient in conducting routine farm visits TB testing and performing standard surgical procedures.
  • Experience in Small Animal medicine and surgery is desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced mixed practice managing a diverse range of cases.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach with a commitment to delivering highquality care.
  • Willingness to participate in a shared oncall and weekend rota 1 in 4.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach towards animals and their owners.
