Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe efficient and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining infrastructure and energy sectors.
Hatch is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Designer specializingin phosphates as well as mining and mineral production facilities. Hatch works on brownfield and Greenfield plans for expansions and new plants. Hatch also is used as commissioning agents between the contracting companies and the clients.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Assign perform and review design work within discipline including but not limited to the following deliverables; control system architecture drawings instrumentation location drawings installation detail drawings wiring and interconnection diagrams ISA loop drawings motor control schematics P&IDs cables schedules.
Assign perform and review 3D modeling of electrical and instrumentation components and work with other disciplines to resolve conflicts and clashes. Attend model reviews and coordinate design activities with other disciplines and departments.
Coordinate the creation and compilation of all discipline drawings indexes and schedules into engineering and construction work packages. Prepare material estimates (MTOs) for engineering estimates. Provide support for and coordination with field personnel during construction and commissioning. Conduct field visits for data collection and asbuilt drawings.
Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities. Maintain an uncompromising commitment to engineering design safety and quality programs and procedures. Provide mentoring and verification of the work of less experienced drafting personnel.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
Minimum of 10 years experience in design of industrial instrumentation and control systems preferably with an emphasis in mining and mineral processing.
Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized technical institute.
Excellent general computer skills and proficient in the use of Microstation AutoCAD.
Multidiscipline coordination and project team leadership experience.
Extensive experience with various electrical codes and standards (i.e. NEC NFPA IEEE API CSA).
Knowledge of and experience with DCS & PLC control system hardware and network layouts.
Desirable
Experience with engineering tools such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (InTools Intergraph) Plantspace P&ID (Intelligent P&IDs Bentley Microstation) 3D modeling (Bentley) and Relational Databases (administration & coordination).
Experience with digital communications and fieldbus technologies networking and hardware.
