Contract Occupational Therapist Hospice & Palliative Care

Location: TriCities WA (Onsite) Benton and Franklin County Washington State
Employment Type: Contract AsNeeded


Compensation: Contract position; compensation based on services provided. $50.23/per hour $77.86/per hour.


About Us:
TriCities Chaplaincy is a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing compassionate hospice and palliative care services to individuals and families in our community. Our interdisciplinary team supports patients with dignity and respect ensuring comfort and quality of life during lifes most challenging transitions.


Position Overview:
We are seeking a contract Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide hospice and palliative care services on an asneeded basis. This position offers flexibility with work varying from once a month to once a quarter depending on patient needs. The OT will collaborate with our care team to assess and support patients in maximizing comfort safety and functional independence in their daily lives.


Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients functional abilities and develop care plans tailored to their needs.
  • Provide recommendations for adaptive equipment and home modifications to enhance safety and comfort.
  • Educate caregivers and family members on techniques to support patient mobility and independence.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including nurses social workers and chaplains to provide holistic patient care.
  • Document patient assessments and interventions in accordance with hospice and palliative care standards.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in the state of Washington.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to varying caseloads.
  • This position is considered safety sensitive and required passing a preemployment drug screening which includes cannabis testing in Washington State.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in hospice or palliative care.

Bilingual in Spanish and English with the ability to speak read write and communicate effectively in both languages.

Requirements

2. Community Outreach: Participate in education and outreach activities to promote agency programs including hospice care advanced planning and bereavement services.

3. Policy Compliance: Maintain knowledge of and comply with agency policies procedures and practices.

4. Confidentiality: Protect patient and agency information per HIPAA guidelines. Only access information on a needtoknow basis.

5. Transportation: Maintain reliable personal transportation. Maintain a valid drivers license and vehicle insurance per state requirements.

6. Health Requirements: Satisfy state and agency health requirements by providing proof of immunization declinations or approved accommodations as applicable.

7. Screenings: Pass criminal background and drug screenings.

8. Physical Demands: Meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.(see attached physical requirements)

9. Training and Orientation: Complete agency and departmental orientation and required training programs.

10. Continuing Education: Complete ongoing education policy reviews and training be designated deadlines.

11. Licensure and Certification: Maintain current licensure(s) and certifications(s) required for the role.

12. Language Proficiency: Read write speak and understand English fluently.

13. Work Availability: Be available to work as assigned or scheduled.
