General Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Youth Workforce Program Manager the Youth Workforce Specialist develops and provides workbased learning services and career related learning experiences to youth in Echo Glen Childrens Center Green Hill School Oakridge Community Facility Woodinville Community Facility Touchstone Community Facility and Harbor Heights.

Salary:

The full range for this position is $56700.80 $68972.80. Offers are made at the entry level of the range.

Assignment:

The position is fulltime yearround. The person in this role will work with young men ages 18 to 25 to provide leadership and independent living skills as well as work readiness training. Our services will assist in their growth through direct instruction and case management.

The anticipated start date for this position is May 1 2025 and the new facility is expected to open June 1 2025. An extensive background check will be required to work in the correctional facility.

Location:
This facility is located in Aberdeen Washington within Stafford Creek Corrections Center a Department of Corrections facility.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide preemployment transition services and workforce development for youth in the juvenile secure facilities and community facilities.
  2. Teach and support implementation of Workplace Readiness SelfAdvocacy Job Exploration and postsecondary counseling to youth in DCYFs Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR).
  3. Work with school districts and partner agencies to collaboratively serve targeted populations.
  4. Complete business outreach to develop employment placements and career related learning experiences for youth in support of their employment goals.
  5. Providesupervisionandguidedsupporttoyouthbeforeduring andafterworkbasedlearningexperience.
  6. Providerequireddocumentationtoenableparticipantstoreceiveschoolcreditwhenpossible.
  7. Preparerequireddocumentationforhiringandpayrollforstudentpaidworkbasedlearningexperience.
  8. Partner with the Career Connect Network to support career explore prep and launch opportunities for youth.
  9. Completedataentryandservicedocumentationtoprogramstandards.
  10. Establish and maintain effective communication with program partners staff and administration to ensure programs are implemented and youth have access to the programs.
Other Functions:
  1. Participate in staff and team meetings inservice programs workshops and seminars.
  2. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Associatesdegreeorhigher.
  2. Experience in an educational setting and/or vocational programs for youth 14 to 25 years of age.
  3. Experience with atrisk youth programs and/or working in a secure facility.
  4. Experienceinputting informationintoadatabase.
  5. Valid drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. BachelorsdegreeinJuvenileJusticeEducationPsychologyHumanDevelopmentorrelatedfield.
  2. BilingualExperiencewithatriskyouthprograms.
  3. Experience using computer word processing and database software.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:

  1. Travel to program sites.
  2. Variety of settings including secure facilities outdoors office and classroom environment.
  3. Flexible hours as necessary including occasional evening work hours.
  4. Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
