Job Summary:

Completes analyzes develops and implements the organizations benefit policies plans (eg. medical/dental/vision/life/retirement/PTO/CT Paid Leave) and communications. Participates in surveys develops cost analysis and other analyses. Maintains awareness and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Assists with special projects as needed. Supervises the Benefits Administrator.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Benefits subject matter expert for Human Resources effectively communicating with employees to understand their benefit offerings.
  • Continuously researches recommends and implements benefit options that will be cost effective and attractive to the employee population.
  • Serves as project lead for annual benefits open enrollment.
  • Serves as project lead for audit compliance and information requests.
  • Serves as primary liaison with system vendors.
  • Designs manages and administers 403B plan health dental life and disability plans and other hospital benefit programs. Ensure proper administration competitive position system support and cost requirements.
  • Installs approved new plans and changes by preparing announcement material for communicating new plans to employees and coordinating with vendors plan documents.
  • Oversees preparation of 5500s and other required filings to ensure that benefit and defined contribution plans are in compliance with ERISA and federal regulations.
  • Supports employees with problem resolution as needed.
  • Oversees the Benefits Administrator who works closely with FMLA administrator as well as the CT Paid Leave Authority to track and stay informed of employee leaves.

Performs related duties.

  • Supports HR with applications including but not limited to benefits reporting compensation support performance management and other special projects/programs as assigned.
  • Attends biweekly benefits orientation for new hires.
  • Processes monthly vendor invoices.
  • Partner with FML outsourcing vendor and Occupational Health to manage leave of absences and workers compensation cases.
  • Assist employees as needed.

Qualifications

Educational / Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of HRIS Systems
  • 35 benefits experience
  • Strong knowledge of Benefits and HR processes and data.
  • Excellent computer skills required including knowledge of MS Word Excel and Google.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to multitask.
  • Requires good judgment analytical and problem solving skills.

Bristol Health Mandated Educational Requirements:

General orientation at time of hire. Other programs as mandated.

Work Environment:

Normal office conditions.

Cognitive Requirements: Ability to comprehend and execute written and/or oral directions. Ability to work independently. Ability to make judgmental decisions. Ability to follow through and complete tasks with minimal direction.
