About the role
As one of our Family Peer Specialists (elsewhere known as Carer Peer Workers) you will draw fromyour own lived experienceto offer support either face to face or over the telephone to families carers kin and supporters of young people with an eating disorder up to 25 years of age attending AlfredICYAMHWS (Infant Child Youth Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service) Eating Disorder program. TheFamily Peer Specialistwill be part of a supportive interdisciplinary team reporting to the Manager Family / Carer Peer Program.Care will focus on the family carers and kin but will involve the young person and their support networks with involvement of lived experience and clinical staff. About you
We are looking for someone withLived experienceas a carer family member kin or supporter of a young person with an eating disorder (essential).
Along with the essentiallived experience as a carer you have an interest to support others who are supporting their young people. Any experience in a prior direct family/carer lived experience role will be an advantage.
Youll also have to complete/provide evidence of a valid VictorianWorking with Children Check current Victorian Drivers Licence full COVID19 vaccinations be willing to undergo a background police check and youll require Australian working rights.

Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) is friendly to infants children young people and their families/carers.
We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family friends and support networks.
We are a specialist multidisciplinary and intensive care mental health service incorporating the lived and living experience of family peer specialists and youth peer workers.
Our service is divided into two streams 011 and 1226 years and includes specialist services in the areas of perinatal care neurodevelopmental presentations eating disorders and outreach support.
The Eating Disorder Intensive At Home (EDI at home) program is a new innovation for supporting young people with Eating Disorders so you will be part of a groundbreaking project.

Family Peer Support
The Family / Carer Peer Specialist program works in conjunction with our clinical teams to provide support to family members or other carers in the network of the young person. Family members and friends often provide the main safety net and support system for a young person. Evidence shows that when family and friends are involved with services outcomes for young people improve.
