Job Description
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalent. Preference to those with abachelors degree in education or related field. Preference to applicants with North Dakota Teaching License.
Qualifications: Human relations skills basic academic skills ability to work on teams experience working with appropriate grade level of students and demonstrates effective communication skills. Preferance to those who are fluent in a 2nd language.
Job Goal: The Multilingual paraprofessional works cooperatively assisting the Multilingual teacher and classroom teachers in the instruction ofMultilingual Language students.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the Multilingual teacher and classroom teacher in achieving Multilingual program objectives by working with individualstudents or small groups and using techniques consistent with program design.
- To reinforce learning of materials concepts and skills initially introduced by the Multilingual teacher or classroomteacher.
- To work with targeted students using a variety of materials and instructional methods under the directsupervision of qualified teachers.
- To confer with the Multilingual teacher or classroom teacher on behavior or other problems about individual students.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- To attend professional development activities as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit walk and stand. Lift sixty 60 lbs. occasionally with the ability to reach stand walk carry bend stoop kneel crouch sit and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely. Maintain mental capacity allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Terms of Employment: Nine 9 months academic school year.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher Building Administrator.
