Axle is seeking a Pathology Data Management and Application Specialist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Cancer Institute (NCI)located in Rockville MD.

Axle is seeking a dynamic Pathology Data Management and Application Specialist to support the National Cancer Institutes digital pathology initiatives. This role is focused on enabling clinical users to effectively utilize a pathology slide image data management platform to improve data access platform utilization data processing and advanced image annotation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital pathology workflows be adept at guiding nontechnical users and possess experience with training new users and documenting platform workflows.
Responsibilities
- Platform Administration & Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for NCI users providing comprehensive support and troubleshooting assistance.
- User Enablement & Training:
- Develop and deliver training sessions and documentation to help nontechnical clinicians efficiently transfer locate access and annotate pathology data using HALO.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to streamline workflows related to pathology slide image generation processing access and interpretation.
- Workflow Integration:
- Work with crossfunctional teams to design test and implement integration solutions that support clinical image analysis and reporting.
- Technical Collaboration & Innovation:
- Participate in detailed design discussions and requirements sessions to continuously enhance the HALO platforms utility for users based on their feedback.
- Advise on strategic technical directions to improve platform usability and integration capabilities.
Qualifications
- Experience & Technical Expertise:
- 1 years of handson experience administering digital pathology or imaging platforms preferably Indica Labs HALO but any similar pathology image platform is acceptable.
- Solid understanding of pathology slide image generation workflows and clinician data access protocols.
- Demonstrated experience in assisting nontechnical clinical users with strong communication and training skills.
- Integration & Workflow Knowledge:
- Familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting complex imaging systems in a clinical or research environment.
- Analytical & ProblemSolving Skills:
- Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues related to platform deployment user access and data annotation.
- Strong documentation skills to capture system configurations user guides and training materials.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Plus Skills)
- PlatformSpecific Experience:
- Direct experience with the Indica Labs HALO platform including any customization or advanced configuration.
- Exposure to best practices in digital pathology data management and regulatory compliance.
- Technical Versatility:
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages (e.g. Python) for potential automation of routine administrative tasks.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and a proactive approach to adopting new features and tools.
- Experience integrating hospital Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) into image processing and digital pathology workflows.
- Experience in the integration of hospital PACS with HALO ensuring seamless data exchange and compatibility with existing image processing workflows.
