Job Description

Category: Exempt FullTime

Position Title: President CEO

Reports to: Board of Trustees

Role Summary: The President CEO is responsible for providing the overall leadership guidance and direction of Easter Seals Goodwill ND Inc. Working with and through the team the incumbent leads the senior leadership team and leadership team in creating and implementing a shared vision for the organization and establishing an environment that facilitates and empowers team members in working to advance the organization in terms of culture capability processes and impact through developing and implementing strategic plans and identifying new opportunities for growth. The incumbent is responsible for building highlevel partnerships and leading major initiatives while handling the organizations external and internal affairs. This position works within the guidelines of ESGWND policies/procedures State and Federal Laws rules and regulations.


Minimum Qualifications/Basic Position Requirements:


Scope of Responsibility: The President/Chief Executive Officer consults with the Board of Trustees on policy changes and matters concerning significant changes in strategic direction or operating plans potential legal exposure and material changes in the organizations financial plans or position. The incumbent also must be able to demonstrate the ability to:
  • Direct the work of others using problem solving skills. Must be able to support interpret implement and communicate ESGWND State and Federal policies procedures laws rules and regulations for the various departments.
  • Lead a team in translating the larger organizational vision into specific division and department goals and objectives with help from the ESGWND leadership.
  • Recommend courses of action and developing special projects that move ESGWNDs mission forward.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with ESGWND staff and with external personnel such as federal state and local agencies and prepare and make presentations. The ability to develop expand and coordinate the services provided by ESGWND is also required.
  • Utilize effective interpersonal skills; being tactful courteous and diplomatic with internal and external contacts. Must be able to adapt to rapid change and must be able to intervene promptly in crisis/emergency situations.
  • The ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality.

  1. Strategy Collaborate with the Board to create refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget staff and priorities are aligned with Easter Seals Goodwill of North Dakota Inc.s core mission.
  1. Projects future business needs for ESGWND services develops strategic plans and shortterm goals and objectives for ESGWND. Leads senior management staff in implementing the strategic plan. Recommends and adheres to the annual fiscal budget for ESGWND.
  2. Directs and monitors the development and implementation of new services based on people served families and community needs organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. Assures marketing strategies are implemented to maintain or expand present services and geographic area.
  3. Evaluates opportunities and recommends initiatives to expand sources of revenue through programmatic development and evaluates potential niche markets to assess what ESGWND could provide that expand the mission and footprint across the region.
  4. Evaluates and recommends action relative to potential local regional and national strategic partnerships along with other members of senior management to collaborate with other provider organizations academic institutions and educational systems to enhance services from ESGWND.
  5. Searches for innovative solutions improvement of services and appropriate growth of the organization. Effectively advances ideas overcomes obstacles and influences decision makers. Observes the need for action and acts accordingly seeking board direction when appropriate.
  6. Readily and effectively adapts to changing ideas and activities to cope with varying situations. Acts as an effective agent of change.
  1. Board Governance Effectively working with the Board of Trustees to develop cogent and achievable strategy. Providing analysis and support to the Board as to whether the strategy is working.
  1. Maintain regular and ongoing communication to build strong relationships with the entire Board providing leadership and support to members.
  2. Communicate effectively with the Board by providing members with all the information necessary to continually function properly and make informed decisions in a timely and accurate manner.
  3. Attend all Board meetings and provide reports and updates on staffing levels current work project timelines and project and organizational progress.
  4. Manage the Board as needed to build consensus remind them of outstanding deliverables and offer support.
  5. Implement Board policies and procedures in accordance with the written and established bylaws and build support for the Board decisions amongst staff.
  6. Work closely and openly with the Board ensuring ongoing communication of risks issues and successes.
  1. People Management Developing and accessing people relative to having the right people in the right jobs to achieve organizational goals. Developing and maintaining a pipeline/stream of the right people for succession and supporting goals and strategies. Employee engagement.
  1. Develops implements and reviews operating policies and procedures along with other members of senior management ensuring regulatory and other compliance.
  2. Efficiently and effectively utilizes human financial and organizational resources to achieve organizational objectives. Continually monitors the need and availability of resources and operates in a costeffective manner without sacrificing quality.
  3. Oversees the integration of ESGWND mission and mission critical operations and ensures effective systems exist to meet ESGWNDs operational plan. Maximizes operational efficiencies to provide the highest quality of safe and appropriate care.
  4. Oversees strong workforce development through recruitment and retention employee satisfaction and engagement maximizing employee growth and development and succession planning.
  5. Creates an environment of support and positive regard for staff and clients. Encourages staff development through selfassessment skill development training and learning. Acts as an advocate for clients and staff.
  6. Uses influence to create enthusiasm and team focus to attain goals. Recognizes and rewards employees for high performance. Acts as a role model for others and confronts behavior that undermines organizational objectives.
  7. Establish clear work standards and expectations monitors performance motivates employees utilizes coaching and corrective action when necessary and conducts performance appraisals on a timely basis.
  8. Interviews hires and supervises ESGWND senior leadership staff. Prepares and conducts performance reviews coaches mentors counsels completes performance correction notices as needed conducts regularly scheduled senior management and leadership development meetings and promotes team building activities. Approves program policies and informs Board of management changes.
  9. Assesses and approves contractual relationships for the utilization of external resources.
  10. Efficiently and appropriately delegate tasks. Monitors progress on tasks and assures goal accomplishment.
  1. Operating Measures Assure and demonstrate that financial P&Ls asset utilization quality and client satisfaction are headed in the right direction.
  1. Monitors financial matters on an ongoing basis in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and other members of senior leadership. Achieve and maintain strong financial health.
  2. Actively involved with the North Dakota Department of Human Services National Easter Seals and Goodwill Industries International Inc.
  3. Recommends and adheres to the annual fiscal budget for ESGWND.
  4. Maintains compliance with accreditation standards per ESGWND standards policies and State and Federal regulation.
  5. Maintains licensure standards regarding Title XIX surveys.
  6. Assure quality services through maintenance of ESGWND Quality Enhancement Program (medication errors infections service outcomes and incidents).
  1. Relationship with External Constituencies Positive and meaningful engagement with ESGWND people served customers parents guardians and other stakeholders. Develop and maintain linkages with the external world.
  1. Promotes ESGWND services to families agencies and the public by actively participating in civic organizations committees and regular interaction with advocacy groups.
  2. Develops positive and professional relationships with Board develops and educates Board and provides Board with education.
  3. Develop relationships and ensures regular positive communication with internal and key external constituents including team members the community current and potential donors governmental representatives politicians lobbyists and reimbursement agencies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
