The Role

The Digital Associate will participate in all areas of House & Gardens digital offering with a focus on writing regular stories for the website and generating features ideas. This exciting role in House & Garden plays a crucial part in facilitating the digital success of House & Garden Editorial. Reporting to the Digital Director this is a great opportunity for a talented digital writer and coordinator to join a team that is achieving rapid growth.

What will you be doing

  • Write produce and upload digitalfirst stories (covering decoration travel gardens culture and food) within key editorial pillars to preagreed targets in line with the digital strategy.

  • Bring ideas covering all of the above verticals to monthly features planning meetings.

  • Feed into social media outputs and schedule regular posts for Facebook and Pinterest.

  • Assist with the daytoday running of houseandgarden including managing the homepage where necessary and scheduling newsletters.

  • Commission digitalfirst stories when required.

  • Assist with the upload of print stories to the website with accuracy and attention to detail and work closely with the editorial team to ensure the print magazine is represented at its best onsite at all times.

  • Be the first point of contact for digital inquiries responding in a timely manner.

  • Produce and attend photo and video shoots for the website.

  • Undertake picture research for digital stories.

  • Stay on top of digital trends providing feedback to the wider team on new innovations where relevant.

  • Support with commercial projects and paid partnerships.

  • Be available to work occasional overtime attend events on behalf of House & Garden and understand the fastpaced nature of the job.

  • Work with the features team to support projects such as the Top 100 list that straddle print and digital.

Who you are:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role

  • Ability to provide examples of outstanding published news and feature articles

  • A passion for and understanding of the brands core subjects: decoration design travel and food.

  • Impeccable editorial judgement and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience using CMS.

  • Experience using photo and video editing tools like Photoshop.

  • Ability to work swiftly and to deadlines.

  • Must be confident collaborative and communicative with a desire to thrive in a fastpaced media environment.

  • Must have a positive cando attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Must be a strong team player with autonomy were a closeknit and agile team so communication is key.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow content calendars and schedules seamlessly.

  • Knowledge of digital analytics is preferred (training can be provided).

  • Understanding of SEO principles is preferred (training can be provided).
