Employment Relationship: Substitute teachers are employed atwill. Temporary employees are hired for a preestablished period and typically during teacher absence. They are ineligible for benefits and holiday pay. Each school administrator has the prerogative to prohibit the substitute teacher from assignments within their school. Human Resources has authority to block substitute teachers from assignments at school locations and/or districtwide.
Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the district mission statement. This position performs the duties of a classroom teacher or paraprofessional in their absence. This position may apply to a person temporarily employed to teach a class that does not have a regular teacher.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
Professional Requirements: Must serve as a role model to students. Desirable personal characteristics are required. Appropriate dress and grooming consistent with established standards required. Must be at work on time. Must meet attendance standards. Must conduct activities safely.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk stand and lift. Occasionally the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to approximately 30 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. In the event of an emergency lifting and/or assisting in the lifting of students may be necessary.
