The APE Teacher will provide direct and consultative adaptive physical education instruction to students with disabilities as specified in their Section 504 plans individual educational programs (IEP).In addition the APE Teacher will evaluate and assess motor competency physical fitness play recreation leisure and sports skills. The APE Teacher will collaborate with the educational teams to develop support and implement appropriate physical education programs that meet the unique needs of each student. This is a 184day school year position.As part of our team you provide direct instruction in the Collaborative setting either in group or 1:1 varying educational environments which may or may not be ideal for either teaching or learning. In a manner consistent with the students IEP 504 Plan behavioral intervention plan and other documents that direct the appropriate teaching style for students. Develops appropriate measurable IEP objectives an accommodations as a member of the IEP or 504 Team. . REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelors Degree or higher in physical education health or a related field from an accredited institutionA valid Massachusetts educator license in grades PreK8 and 512 with an endorsement in Physical Education for Students with Disabilities.Experience in the development and implementation of programs to support students with disabilities Experience in high level and complex problem solving; building leadership capacity; managing and contributing to large scale organizational change.Must be trained or willing to be trained in escalation and physical restraint techniques utilized by LPVEC
