Meeting Street is currently looking for an Educator for Early Intervention working 40 hours weekly.


Duties:

  • Uses approved instrument to provide developmental screening within their native language assessment and evaluation for children birth to three as part of a multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility.
  • Demonstrates competence in interpreting results of screening and evaluation in terms of the childs functional capabilities with an emphasis on selfhelp skills fine and gross motor development mobility sensory integration behavior play and oralmotor functioning and explains results to families in a mindful manner incorporating health literacy.
  • Creates adaptation of the environment for infant or toddler and selects designs and fabricates assistive devices to facilitate development and promote the acquisition of functional skills with respect to the families culture and traditions.
  • Develops and implements appropriate treatment plan (IFSP) with the family and EI team.
  • Develops therapeutic activities and programs to prevent or minimize the impact of initial or future impairment delay in development or loss of functional ability.
  • Actively includes family throughout the entire evaluation/assessment and IFSP process.
  • Works as member of a team to gather and organize information from multiple sources to plan an individualized evaluation/assessment and IFSP.
  • Administers a variety of discipline specific related evaluation/assessment procedures using specific protocols and best practices to gather further information to assist in determining eligibility and IFSP development.
  • Coordinates and maintains in partnership with the family consistent communication with EI team medical and community contacts in a professional inclusive compliant and timely manner.
  • Incorporates information and strategies from multiple disciplines to implement intervention strategies within the familys routines activities and natural environments with respect to the families culture and traditions.
  • Provides accurate legible and timely reporting of billing.
  • Organizes daily schedule to meet caseload requirements and uses indirect time appropriately.
  • Arranges adequate coverage for clients missed due to absence and/or assures proper notice/cancellation to the family.

Requirements:

  • Masters in Early Childhood Education; Early Childhood Special Education or Certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education as an Early Childhood Education teacher Early Childhood Special Education teacher All Grades Special EducationVisually Impaired teacher All Grades Special EducationDeaf and Hard of Hearing teacher or All Grades Special EducationSevere Intellectual Disability teacher.
  • Valid pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
