Staff Nurse

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a fastpaced communitybased 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the integration of the lowincome PanAsian immigrant and refugee community into the United States. Established in 1981 CMAA has been a cornerstone of the Uptown community providing programming for generations of lowincome youth adults and senior citizens. We offer direct services including afterschool & youth mentorship programming job training & placement elder care services and social services such as citizenship & housing services.

Promotes and restores patients health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients friends and families; and supervising assigned team members.

• Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
• Provide nursing services health education health monitoring health consultation)
• Implements and ensures that medication management plans are executed in accordance with the Administrative code.
• Develop individualized care plan in consultation with the Adult Day Services team
• Participate in Quality assurance plans
• Plan and implement the highest quality health services
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional psychological and spiritual support to patients friends and families.
• Promotes patients independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients friends and family to understand condition medications and selfcare skills; answering questions.
• Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; follows nursing divisions philosophies and standards of care set by the state board of nursing State Nurse Practice Act and other governing agency regulations.
• Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infectioncontrol policies and protocols medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions irregularities and continuing needs.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; and participating in team problemsolving methods.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Provide emergency services during programming

Qualifications

• RN or LPN license required in Illinois
• Bilingual preferred in Lao or Spanish
• Have a passion for working with the geriatric population
• Wellorganized and EHR proficient

Work Environment

• This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

• This is a largely sedentary role however some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
