Job Summary:
The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for patient education comprehensive intra and extraoral screenings prophylaxis cleanings and polishing as well as Root Scaling and Planing for periodontal disease per practice protocols and under dentist supervision. This role is integral to the organizations mission vision and values and all activities must align with compliance protocols and policies.
Position Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and greet patients warmly.
- Review each patients medical and dental history reaching out to external healthcare providers as needed prior to care.
- Conduct thorough intraoral and extraoral exams for all patients.
- Take dental radiographs as required.
- Perform professional teeth cleaning and polishing.
- Conduct root scaling and planing as appropriate.
- Educate patients on relevant topics such as periodontal disease.
- Consult with the treating dentist for every patient.
- Refer patients to specialists as indicated by practice guidelines.
- Accurately document all patient interactions in their charts.
- Set up and clean treatment rooms between patients.
- Handle lab tasks assigned by the clinical manager or dentist.
- Adhere to all safety protocols.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Administrative/Reception Duties:
- Answer phones when necessary.
- Assist with scheduling new and returning patient appointments.
- Support emergency cases in collaboration with the Practice Manager or attending dentist ensuring smooth patient discharge.
- Uphold security measures within the Dental Center.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Valid Massachusetts license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency with Dentrix and other required software.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education sessions when scheduled.
Skills and Certifications:
- Massachusetts Dental Hygienist license.
- Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene.
- CPR certification.
Experience and Education:
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience
- Associate Level
