SEASONAL/PARTTIME JOB OPPORTUNITY
Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I & II (Seasonal)

If you are looking for a rewarding job to dive into this summer working as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Ior stepping up to an experiencedlevel Lifeguard/Swim Instructor II you will have a key role in creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for our community.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Iis the entry level position in the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor series. Learn the fundamentals of Lifeguard/Swim I instructor safety. In this role you will have guided supervision and handson training in lifesaving techniques and public safety. Build foundational skills while learning to enforce facility rules supervise patrons maintain a safe aquatic environment and assist with pool operations.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor IIis the advanced level position in the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor series. This position is ideal for experienced lifeguards who have put their knowledge into practice. Lifeguard/Swim Instructor II are ready to take charge and be a leader. This position involves a full range of responsibilitiesfrom leading rescues and emergency responses to managing instructional classes and community center operations. Lifeguard/Swim Instructor II models water safety leadership and community engagement for support staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives supervision (Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I) or general supervision (Lifeguard/Swim Instructor II) from the Senior Lifeguard and/or Recreation Coordinator or designee.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED: Any combination of experience training and/or education that provided the required knowledge skills and abilities of the class is acceptable.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I

Experience
No experience required. One year of experience as a volunteer lifeguard or swim instructor at an organized aquatic facility assisting with public swim sessions and/or lesson instruction is desirable.

Education/Training
Equivalent to the completion of the ninth grade or currently enrolled in an educational institute working towards a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Certificates / Licenses / Special Requirements
Possession of a current standard First Aid certificate.
Possession of a currentBasicLifeSupportfortheProfessionalRescuercertificate.
Possession of a currentLifeguardTrainingcertificate.
Possession of a Water Safety Instructor certificate prior to providing instruction.
Possession of a Title 22 First Aid certificate as stated by state law.

Minimum Age
Must be at least fifteen 15 years of age.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor II

Experience
One year or 200 hours of work experience as a volunteer lifeguard or swim instructor at an organized aquatic facility assisting with public swim sessions and/or lesson instruction.

Education/Training
Equivalent to the completion of the eleventh grade or currently enrolled in an educational institute working towards a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Certificates / Licenses / Special Requirements
Possession of a current standard First Aid certificate.
Possession of a currentBasicLifeSupportfortheProfessionalRescuercertificate.
Possession of a currentLifeguardTrainingcertificate.

If you are selected to advance in the selection process you will be required to attend a mandatory candidate orientation session. One session will be offered virtually the other in person.
