What you get to do:
- Provide excellent guest service while monitoring waterways and ensuring guest safety.
- Communicate with guests and implement park safety guidelines
- Monitor all park waterways and respond to guests in distress
- Provide exceptional guest service by greeting and interacting with guests answering questions and resolving guest issues
- Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas including gear and trash removal wiping down and organizing beach furniture and other cleaning duties as needed
- Rake sift and sweep sand; skim water for leaves
- Help distribute wristbands (Aquatica only)
- Perform other duties as assigned
What it takes to succeed:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be able to complete and pass all training for American Red Cross Water Park Lifeguarding CPR First Aid AED and general operations procedures
- Be able to pass initial and quarterly swim tests and regular inservice and safety audits
- Be able to maintain composure in stressful situations multitask make quick decisions troubleshoot problems with training and adapt to changes in a fastpaced work environment
- Able to understand and enforce ride/safety policies
- Be able to identify respond to and extract a distressed individual
- Be able to communicate effectively with ambassadors guests and leadership
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be comfortable with completing all cleaning duties including use of cleaning chemicals
- Be able to work in/around water for entire shift
- Be comfortable with heights and diving into water from heights of up to 6 feet
- Be able to dive to depths of 13 feet (Discovery Cove); or 7 feet (Aquatica)
- Be able to repetitively climb on ladders uneven surfaces or towers up to 77 feet tall
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Be able to stand for entire shift often on uneven surfaces
- Be able to bend reach twist and turn with complete flexibility
- Be able to work independently with little to no supervision
- Be able to work in a team environment
- Be comfortable working around animals
- Be able to walk/run in sand
- Be able to work in all weather conditions
- Be available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need to include opening mid and closing shifts; nights weekends and holidays; 10hour shifts
- Bilingual preferred (Portuguese a plus)
- Previous lifeguard experience preferred
