Job Description

Administrator of English Language Arts Curriculum & Reading Intervention

12month Position Central Office

School Year

Are you a passionate and innovative leader with a deep commitment to literacy education Montgomery County Public Schools in Southwest Virginia seeks a collaborative and supportive Administrator of English Language Arts Curriculum & Reading Intervention to empower our teachers and inspire a lifelong love of learning in our students. The leader in this position will plan implement direct and maintain the MCPS PreK12 English Language Arts programs as well as oversee and provide recommendations for the development of the curriculum regarding Reading Intervention.

LICENSURE:

  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK12 Secondary or Middle School
  • Reading Specialist or English endorsement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree or higher in School Administration or Curriculum and Instruction from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum five years of teaching experience in English/Language Arts or Reading
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community
  • Experience in developing and implementing curriculum
  • Experience in developing and providing engaging professional development
  • Deep understanding of English/Language Arts curriculum instruction and assessment including knowledge of current research and best practices in literacy education
  • Experience with data analysis and using data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes
  • Proven ability to create a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment for all students
  • Familiarity with state and national standards for English/Language Arts and the Virginia Literacy Act



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of administrative experience

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

COMPENSATION: $77241.99 $139145.59 annually; with benefits; commensurate with experience and prorated to start date
