Daily Substitute Teacher
Job Goal: Substitute Teachers will need to execute lesson plans left by the absent teacher create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning in person. Substitute Teachers will monitor observe and report student behavior according to school policies and procedures.
Terms of Employment:
Our need for Substitutes will vary from daytoday and weektoweek and as such we cannot guarantee work each day. Employment in this regard is therefore not applicable under the provisions of chapter 71 Section 41 of the Massachusetts General Laws pertaining to tenure of teachers.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information;
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies;
- Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health welfare and safety of all students;
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities;
- Report to Principal of the school upon arrival and departure at school if in person;
- Check in Frontline under substitute notes for link to lessons for the day if remote and/or in person;
- Review lesson plans materials and/or instructions left by absent teacher;
- Report student injuries accidents illnesses or discipline problems to the school principal immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible;
- Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner in which motivates students to learn and participate;
- Organize students for effective instruction;
- Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building if in person;
- Ensure that all students leave the zoom/google site before leaving the online classroom
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies;
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school policies and practices.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in Google Classroom and Canvas Platform
- Experience in delivering lessons as outlined by the teacher
- Experience monitoring students
- Experience teaching or working with schoolage children
- Teaching capabilities in all subject areas preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills orally and in writing
- The ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies and ensure student safety
- The ability to address the various learning styles of students including multilingual and students with disabilities
- The ability to implement strategies activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in both academic and social behavior based on students prior knowledge and experience
- The ability to effectively contribute to and manage an individual program plan for students with special needs;
- The ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students
- The ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgments
- The ability to display problem solving cooperative negotiating skills and conflict resolution strategies
- The ability to use classroom instructional time appropriately and wisely
- The ability to create a strong sense of belonging and an environment that is culturally inclusive of all students
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidate must be at least 18 years of age;
- Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Certificate (GED) required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- At least 1 year of experience
- DESE Licensure
- Multilingual
