Job Title: School Psychologist Intern Pay Grade:School Psychologist Intern

Job Family:Student Service Provider FLSA Status:Exempt

Typical Work Year: 183 Days Calendar to be set with supervisor

SUMMARY:The School Psychologist Intern applies theory principles and methods to prevent under/overidentification of students assess evaluate formulate and implement a plan of action based on student needs and strengths. A School Psychologist Intern intervenes to address the mental social emotional behavioral and developmental conditions and disabilities experienced by students within our schools. The Intern develops and promotes good relations among the school community: parents staff administration and other community members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.   • Perform cognitive social emotional behavioral and academic assessments to maximize student achievement and success.
  • Assess and provide intervention services to students who exhibit special needs and monitor progress.
  • Involvement in the IEP process and meetings as needed.
  • Provide schoolbased multitiered counseling as well as social emotional and behavioral intervention services to individuals groups and parents; including ongoing direct services to students with developmental and emotional disabilities.
  • Work with building administration to identify yearly specific goals and priorities for services.
  • Engage in individual and schoolwide safety implementation; including crisis response prevention assessment and intervention for students atrisk of harm to self or others.
  • Differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
  • Support and actively participate in a Professional Learning Community
  • Work with teachers other mental health and special education personnel to provide intervention and consultation regarding the needs of students.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community agencies/resources.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and building/district professional activities. Adhere to the professional ethical standards and guidelines developed by the National Association of School Psychology and/or the American Psychological Association.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Masters degree in School Psychology from an accredited program in progress; eligible for a Colorado Department of Education Intern Authorization.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: Valid drivers license required. Colorado Department of Education School Psychologist Intern Authorization required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills
  • Consultation skills
  • Demonstrate familiarity of diagnostic tools and assessments for students of all levels.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and leadership
  • Demonstrate problemsolving skills through collaborative work with students teachers staff parents and administrators.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Knowledge of developmental emotional and behavioral disabilities
  • Experience in data collection and data analysis
  • Ability to develop and provide training related to serving students with exceptional needs
  • Nonviolent and physical intervention techniques
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education and District Policies Superintendents policies and building/department procedures.

  • Microcomputers and general office equipment
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Student Information Systems
