The Position: Assistant TenureTrack Professor

Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. (Anticipated hiring range: $88008 $102000 per year).

Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a masters degree in agricultural education or related areas such as agricultural mechanics or agricultural communications. Candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral degree program and making progress towards completion. An earned doctorate degree is necessary by the start of the second probationary year. Additional requirements include the following:

  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to undergraduate education
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Demonstrated ability in applied research

Responsibilities:

This tenuretrack position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching scholarship (research in field of interest grants dissemination of research) and service (student advising committee work allied partner groups). As part of an integrated team this position will provide lecture and field instruction in agricultural education and teaching methods for secondary teachers; agricultural communication and leadership; supervise student teachers; supervise interdisciplinary undergraduate teaching teams; advise undergraduate and graduate students and serve as advisor to student organizations; participate in the development of the agricultural science program; conduct research in an area related to teaching responsibilities and industry needs; serve on appropriate College and University committees; participate in outreach conferences activities and other programs within the College of Agriculture; and work closely with the local agricultural community. Teaching assignments are based on individual qualifications and the departments needs.

The Department:

The College of Agriculture includes 23 fulltime tenured/tenure track faculty 18 full or parttime lecturers and approximately 850 undergraduate students and offers programs leading to bachelors degrees in Agricultural Science (options in Agricultural Science and Education and Agricultural Communications and Leadership) Agricultural Business Animal Science (options in PreVeterinary Science and Food Animal Production) and Plant and Soil Sciences (options in Crops and Horticulture and Land and Soil Resource Management). The Animal Science program has over 400 majors and is currently the ninth largest major at the university. The faculty represents a wide range of interests and the hallmark of our program is an integrated interdisciplinary approach to undergraduate education. Central to this approach is the incorporation of our 800acre University Farm and 240 acres of native rangeland. Animal enterprises include beef organic dairy sheep swine and a USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) meats facility.
