- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Current International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification as a Certified Arborist
- 3 Years of urban tree care experience
- Demonstrated ability and completion of mandatory training in Chainsaw Operations Ground Worker Operations Tree Hazard Assessment Tree Felling Tree Pest and Disease Management Ropes/Knots/Rigging Bolting and Cabling Pruning Barricading Flagman Fall Protection and Electrical Awareness

The City of Edmontons Urban Forestry Department is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Arborist to join our team.
As an Arborist I (certified) you will play a crucial role in the maintenance preservation and enhancement of our urban forest. This position involves performing skilled tree care including pruning and removing trees in various environments within the municipality.
Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve results in a respectful inclusive and serviceminded way.
What will you do
- Ensure the safety structural development and health of trees by utilizing hand and power tools and aerial lift units
- Prune trees to remove broken diseased or damaged wood and maintain proper clearances above roads sidewalks and near infrastructure
- Remove and dispose of branches and brush; chip brush and trees as required
- Train trees to maintain speciesspecific structure and form
- Attend to stormdamaged trees
- Remove adventitious growth (water sprouts & suckers) as required
- Perform tree surgeries cable and brace and thin crowns to reduce stress on weakened areas
- Remove small and large trees including hazard trees as directed
- Complete structural risk assessments and identify tree health issues pests and diseases in the early stages
- Address public complaints and requests regarding tree problems and concerns
- Perform other related duties as required
