Position Title: Fixturing Technician Intern

Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group Heil Environmental

Location: Fort Payne AL

Reports to: Maintenance and Facility Manager

Department: Manufacturing and Operations Property/Facilities

Shift: 1st shift

Position Summary:

The Fixturing Technician Intern ensures jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours. Assembles a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs fixtures and related tooling. Being a Fixturing Technician Intern designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices. Responsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings. In addition Fixturing Technician Intern may be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established control procedures.

Requires a High School Diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Fixturing Technician Intern typically requires 15 years of related experience. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and sketches or computeraided design (CAD) and computeraided manufacturing (CAM) files.
  • Rework and repair damaged carts and buggies.
  • Weld and cut metal structures.
  • Assemble and fabricate new tooling and new fixtures from blueprints.
  • Inspect and test tools jigs and fixtures.
  • Develop plan of action to manufacture tooling and fixtures to specifications.
  • Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Must be willing to work overtime if needed at short notice to support production.

Requirements:

  • Requires a High School Diploma.
  • Requires 15 years of related experience.
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail accuracy and safety.
  • GD&T knowledge.
  • Welding experience.
  • Be proficient in algebra geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Skills and experience with conventional machine shop tools and equipment.

Requirements:

Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions lists and billing materials; use PC based applications including Mainstar Outlook and Microsoft Office knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50 of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70 lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15 of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10 of time; involves repetitive stooping forward bending and crouching approximately 5 of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment meters chains hoists automatic drills and general hand tools and to record written information.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust fumes noise and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
