Digital Scholarship Coordinator
Knox College invites applications for the new position of Digital Scholarship Coordinator. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between the faculty students library staff and other academic support offices and Information Technology Services to support digital scholarship initiatives across the curriculum. This position contributes to the institutions goals to foster collaboration and facilitate the effective use of current and emerging technologies in support of teaching learning research and creative work. Based in Seymour Library the Coordinator is well positioned to positively influence the student and faculty experience with instructional technologies in many facets. The position will expand upon our newly emerging Digital Scholarship Lab in Seymour Library work closely with the Makerspace/Science Commons and play a significant role in implementation of the Colleges new Learning Management System (LMS).
This position is full time 12month academic staff reporting to the Director of the Library.
Essential Duties
Emerging technologies Digital Scholarship Lab Management and Digital Literacy 50
Consulting with faculty to assess and implement technology for experiential and enhanced learning encompassing multiple methods and tools of Digital Scholarship.
Instructing students in their use of technology for academic and professional needs including audio/visual media production design and visualization and information dissemination and sharing (e.g. story maps podcasting timelines).
In collaboration with campus stakeholders develop plans for growing the infrastructure of the Digital Scholarship Lab in Seymour Library and elsewhere.
Collaborate with librarians on digital literacy instruction and the Makerspace Technician on digital projects.
Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs to develop and implement an extensive program of outreach engagement consultation and support to expand and enhance the use of technology in teaching and learning.
Collaborate with ITS in ensuring classroom technologies meet the needs of faculty and students.
LMS Instructional Design and Support 40
Collaborate with ITS on implementation and ongoing management of Knoxs new LMS.
Partner with faculty to engage in best teaching and learning practices on the LMSand help in achieving student engagement aligned with instructors goals.
Provide appropriate support in designing and modifying courses in the new LMS.
Develop materials to ensure baseline success for all users while also providing support for advanced application of LMS features.
Professional development 10
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field.
Required Qualifications:
Masters or Ph.D. degree in relevant disciplines. These could include instructional technology digital humanities library science information science or closely related fields.
At least 3 years experience teaching with academic technologies in the classroom or working in a programmatic or administrative capacity related to academic technology at an institution of higher education museum or library.
A commitment to working with students faculty and staff of all backgrounds and experiences to contribute to an educational environment that values diversity equity and inclusion.
Excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by application materials interview and references.
Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative/team environment as demonstrated by application materials.
Demonstrated organizational skills ability to take initiative and set and meet deadlines.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Experience with undergraduate instruction in a setting of diverse student populations.
Experience with academic project implementation and faculty development.
Experience as instructor or student with theory and/or methods in Digital Humanitiescertificate in Digital Humanities or similar familiarity with key issues in digital scholarship.
Experience managing student employees.
