General Responsibilities:

Hitachi Astemo Americas Inc is looking for an experienced CAE Engineer to join our CAE/CAD Team. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for designing planning and coordinating multiple processes of simulations of product development used in product design to all the business units the group currently supports. The main focus of the knowhow is NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness). In addition this position will be to coordinate all product development activity between OEM customer and responsible departments within the Hitachi Astemo.

Job Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this position includes but is not limited to:

• Calculation processing 30
  • Coordination of the procedure concerning targets and methods
  • Involvement in the development of calculation standards and practical application
• Translate customer requirements into simulation inputs 10
  • Determination of customer NVH requirements with regards to FE models and review of specifications
  • Processing of calculations of subsystems and components according to customer requirements considering internal guidelines
• Preparation and evaluation design 10
  • Preparation of alternatives and improvements to the relevant design levels
  • Evaluation of design proposals and support with regards to the development of test concepts
  • Involvement in correlations between calculation and test results
• Support programs in terms of CAENVH analysis 30
  • Support programs and RFQs CAE tasks and checks their results. Propose optimization regarding strength and cost.
  • Support to NVH related issues (Quality) in terms of measurement analysis support and CAE modelling techniques for problem solving.
• Documentation 10
  • Documentation of calculation results for design levels as CAE reports according to the released standard
  • Creation provision and administration of technical documentation
• CAE correlation 10
  • Conduct CAE correlation supporting measurements setup and creating correlation reports
  • Comprehend and transfer of customer requirements to responsible activities within the company.
  • Facilitate and manage program QCD timing in the roll of project engineer.

Qualifications:

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Experience with ANSA/META (preferred) or other pre and post processing tools is required.
• Experience with ABAQUS is a must. Additional experience with NASTRAN is preferred.
• Experience with NVH specific tools such as Actran.
• Experience with SIMULIA 3D Experience simulation tools)
• Knowledge on Fatigue in terms of modelling (meshing) analysis and post processing of parent metal and weld using material curves. Experience with nCode is preferred.
• Experience with loads processing in nCode is preferred.
• Experience on interface calculation and modelling.
• An ability to write programming codes is a must.
• Experience with CAE analysis of hyperelastic or viscoelastic materials is not required but preferable.
• Experience in preprocessing solver and postprocessing within the 3Dexperience platform using the various simulation roles will be a bonus.
• Experience with product development inside OEM is a perk

Additionally the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong/effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to travel and support activities and coordination at the global level is required.

Education: Minimum Master level on mechanical engineering or equivalent. PhD degree is preferable

Experience: 15 years applicable experience in related field (NVH and NVH CAE).

Working conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Have ability to work 40 60 hours per week.

Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed.
