Job Description

Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine seeks a fulltime College and Career Counselor for theschool year. Founded in 1801 Lincoln Academy is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the midcoast communities of central Lincoln County. For 220 years we have served as an educational center for students from more than 15 towns in the region. In addition to our local students the school enrolls up to 55 international and domestic boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them.We seek a creative and collaborative College and Career Counselor who is enthusiastic about working with 9th12th grade students as they plan their high school experiences and lives after Lincoln Academy. Our office takes a great deal of pride in helping to shape the lives of Lincoln Academy students through thoughtful conversations that include long term planning and yearly scheduling options in a supportive environment. A demonstrated affinity for working with students from across the spectrum of educational aspirations and diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds is essential. In addition faculty members are required to advise a group of students and participate in duties associated with the schools boarding program. The successful candidate will possess previous experience in college counseling and academic advising. A certificate in Career and College Counseling a Masters degree in School Counseling or a Certification in School Counseling is preferred. The candidate should have experience supporting the academic social and emotional skills of high school students. Exposure to a diverse range of postgraduate plans is also important as Lincoln Academy students enter a wide array of postsecondary opportunities. Additional important skills include strong oral and written communication skills a collaborative approach to problem solving and a warm calm and positive attitude.Lincoln Academy is an equal opportunity employer.
