QUALIFICATIONS:
1)Bachelors degree or equivalent.
2)Experience using complex data structures and text processing techniques.
3)Hands on experience with the various aspects of collecting and cleaning data.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1 Programming in a dynamic scripting language (Python Perl etc.. SQL experience is a plus.

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Programmer/Analyst II will assist the Senior Research Systems Analyst in the database management data cleaning and documentation activities associated with studies involving the Division of Preventive Medicines biorepository. Using modern scripting languages and text processing techniques s/he will perform the data management tasks necessary to facilitate and document the movement of samples in the biorepositorys freezer farm. Other tasks include the setup of new studies in the lab management system writing label generation scripts and working with study and lab personnel to resolve data problems in files coming from outside sources.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1)Writes scripts to aggregate lab data from multiple sources transforming and reorganizing the data for use in complex varying workflows.
2)Sets up new studies for the biorepository including compiling the necessary documentation.
3)Generates freezer pull lists for studies using the biorepository.
4)Keeps the biorepository database up to date accurately recording numerous transactions in a high volume environment.
5)Interacts directly with study personnel to resolve data problems.
6)Works with study personnel to test new modules of the lab management system.
7)Runs routine quality control and progress reports. This includes notifying senior staff of newly discovered problems.
8)Writes new reporting programs to meet the changing needs of the biorepository.
9)Writes and monitors label generation scripts.
10)Assists with all other tasks as required or assigned.
