Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator the Clinical Research Assistant will work closely with the team to provide organizational and administrative assistance for designated research studies. The Clinical Research Assistant will perform data collection and information gathering related to particular studies. The incumbent will also coordinate the distribution of mailings to patients and arrange meetings and conferences. May assist with the publication of manuscripts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Following established policies and procedures provides administrative assistance to support various research projects and includes:

  • Abstracts patient data from medical records and accurately enters into database. As needed run established reports for use by the investigator.
  • Collates and mails patient surveys and questionnaires; receives completed forms and enters information into the database. Serves as point person for patients needing help or information with these materials.
  • Organizes patient meetings and conferences; responsibilities include: sending and tracking invitations scheduling conference space ordering refreshments and distributing meeting agenda and materials.
  • Attends scheduled and ad hoc research meetings with the investigator to keep current on the study status and priorities of the various research projects.
  • Provides office support including answering the phone making photocopies and faxing documents.
  • Perform literature searches when requested.
  • When needed assists the investigator in preparing manuscripts reports and other presentations of study findings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Able to work accurately pay attention to detail and complete tasks in a timely manner

Alphanumeric keyboarding skills and ability to complete extensive periods of data entry

Ability to work both independently and as a team member

Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others

Good organizational and followthrough skills

Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite application and computer data entry skills

Familiar with medical terminology

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable): S

None

EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Some administrative/office experience needed. Previous experience in a clinical research office helpful.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable):
None.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable):
None. Costeffective and prudent use of materials and supplies.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office conditions.
