PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Physician is responsible for the delivery of patient care services including assessment diagnosis treatment planning and coordination monitoring and evaluation of medical care to individual patients in a variety of setting including clinic hospital and nursing facilities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
  1. Provides direct physician services to patients including examination diagnosis treatment planning and coordination and evaluation of progress. Reviews and follows up on all reports of ancillary services provided to patients.
  2. Provides outpatient inpatient and extended care services to patients.
  3. Arranges for appropriate coverage of his/her patients when unavailable.
  4. Uses SOAP format for recording patient contacts and maintains problemoriented clinical records. Keeps records that are adequately detailed truthful clear and accurate to allow good continuity of patient care and accurate billing (coding of diagnoses services provided and charges). The physicians clinical notations should facilitate another providers assuming followup care. Assures a summary of services given generally referred to as health maintenance is kept uptodate in individual patient records. Notations should be completed on the day that services are provided. Dictated notes should be read corrected and signed or initialed by the provider in accordance with clinic protocol.
  5. Provides billing information relative to all billable services i.e. completed encounter forms and hospital charge sheets.
  6. Demonstrates appropriate work habits which include:
    1. Arriving on time for clinical sessions and/or meetings unless detained by an emergency.
    2. Communicates appropriately with patients and other providers and returns patient/provider phone calls as promptly as possible:
    3. Utilizing appropriate infection control measures;
    4. Maintaining appropriate patient confidentiality.
  7. Shares call coverage for Health Help patients. Shares hospital call coverage to meet hospital active staff requirements.
  8. Cooperates in promoting the team concept of health care delivery. Available for phone consultation for Health Helps midlevel and ancillary staff as needed.
  9. Maintains Kentucky and specialty specific requirements of approved continuing medical education and secures Clinic Directors approval of CE reimbursed by Health Help within defined benefit parameters.
  10. Collaborate with Medical Director and other provider staff members in development and periodic updating of standards of care principles of practice standing orders and/or clinical protocols (including those governing midlevel providers).
  11. As requested participates with professional and allied health training programs in student and resident rotations.
  12. Assists in recruitment and orientation of new staff.
  13. Assists in health care planning. Maintains familiarity with Health Helps mission goals and objectives and works with Medical Director and staff to assure these are met. Helps assure clinic productivity efficiency and financial objectives are met.
  14. As assigned attends meetings or makes presentations to community groups associations or other health organizations as Health Helps representative.
  15. Attends Health Help staff meetings as requested.
  16. Maintains unrestricted Kentucky Medical License DEA certification and privileges to appropriate hospitals and longterm care facilities.
  17. Performs related work and responsibilities as assigned.
  18. Participates in fulfilling Health Helps mission in meeting the health needs of the community.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education
Board Certified/Board Eligible M.D.; D.O.
Required License
An unrestricted Kentucky Medical License.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Provide superior customer service to all patients external customers (office staff of other offices hospitalcommunity agencies etc. and coworkers. Serves as an ambassador of the White House Clinics in all conversations and interactions with these parties.
Acknowledges that White House Clinics strive to be a patientcentered medical home and as such prescribe to teambased delivery of primary care services. Recognizes that the completion of the above listed duties illustrates the employees role in aforementioned teambased care and accepts responsibility for being an active member of the team including identification of quality improvement opportunities.
ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
Professionalism
Maintain competency and knowledge of current standards of practices protocols and procedures of the position department and applicable professional standards. Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information. Adheres to professional standards clinic policies and procedures (OSHA HIPPA Standing Orders etc. federal state and local requirements Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) etc. Cooperates fully with all aspects of Corporate Compliance Plan and Standard of Conduct. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Accountable to the Chief Medical Officer and ultimately the Executive Director.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires a variety of physically and mentally demanding activities. Require full use of eyes ears and hands. Sitting some bending stooping stretching and lifting (generally not in excess of 75 pounds at a time). Ability to prepare written reports and use of telephone equipment. Manual dexterity required to perform some duties and medical/surgical procedures.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
A position exempt from wage and hour laws; requires hours in excess of 40 per week including night and holiday work from time to time. Work is performed in health care environments including medical office hospital and nursing home with exposure to communicable diseases. Position may include possible exposure to aggressive or violent patients and requires the ability to work under stressful conditions often for long periods of time.
