Job Description
St. John Neumann a dynamic multicultural parish in Gaithersburg Maryland is seeking a passionate evangelizing Catholic who who is deeply rooted in and committed to living the teachings of the Catholic Church to serve as the Director of Faith Formation. The Director will oversee the parishs comprehensive faith formation programs which includes adult and childrens faith formation and OCIA. The Director will report directly to the Pastor and be responsible for nurturing and guiding the spiritual growth of the parish community through these essential ministries.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of Faith Formation including OCIA Adult Faith Formation Childrens Faith Formation and Sacramental preparation.
- Develop and implement a variety of religious education programs for 275 children.
- Oversee and provide ongoing faith formation and evangelization opportunities for adults.
- Oversee Catechumenal and Sacramental preparation.
- Identify coordinate and mentor catechists and volunteers.
- Supervises other religious education personnel.
- Evaluate program curricula and acts as parish resource person in methods and some areas of Theology
- Responsible for developing a budget for Religious Education Program
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintains compliance with all archdiocesan and parish policies and procedures
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must be a practicing Catholic with a love for the faith and a commitment to living its teachings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently taking initiative and completing tasks in accordance with given instructions established routines and best practices.
- Positive solutionoriented attitude with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support the ministry.
Education and Experience
- Masters degree in Theology or Religious Education preferred. We are willing to discuss.
- At least two years of experience in a parish setting specifically as a catechetical leader.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively and charitably with students parents candidates and volunteers on a regular basis.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite helpful.
- Experience with administrative functions (budgeting scheduling institutional relationships)
- Experience with database and records management.
Work Environment

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a fulltime role that requires availability for evening and weekend hours.
The salary for this position is $55000 to $60000
