Elementary (K6 Science Lab Lead Teacher

Job Description
The elementary science lab lead teacher will be an experienced dynamic nurturing member of the science faculty. The elementary science lab lead teacher will work in partnership with the science lab STEAM specialist teacher to implement a robust science curriculum for K6 students that embodies the mission of our school as an inclusive community of inquiry. Each K5 homeroom class 2 sections of 2325 students at each grade level) attends science lab once per week Three sections of 6th grade with 20 students per section attend science lab twice a week. The elementary science lab lead teacher works in partnership with the elementary administration and with the secondary science department chair as needed.
Responsibilities include:
Plan and develop handson innovative curriculum and labs for all K6 classes with the STEAM specialist expanding upon previously established exit goals and established curriculum
Develop a dynamic curriculum for 2025 students with the support of the science lab STEAM specialist and parent volunteers
Maintaining the science lab environment (e.g. organizing materials setting up labs photocopying materials)
Collaborate with the science lab STEAM specialist on classroom management and student success
Develop relationships with the children in their class
Ability to lead science in whole and small groups
Create and communicate information for conferences progress reports and report cards on behavior and social interactions
Attend required school events and meetings
Supervise recess lunch carpool or other duties as assigned
Obtain the necessary materials for labs
Set up and take down the labs with support of the STEAM specialist in a timely manner
Maintain student records
Engage parent communication as necessary
Act as the point person for the homeroom teachers of the assigned grade levels
Work collaboratively with the STEAM Specialist to plan out the scope and sequence for the year and meet weekly (at least) to discuss how things are going in the lab.
Technology integration into daily lessons (Google Drive SmartBoards PowerSchool website creation 3D printers robotics etc.
All science lab lead teacher responsibilities take precedence over other duties (after school classes/coaching/tutoring should not begin until 3:30pm at the earliest)
If engaged in after school coaching advanced notice of times when leaving early for games should be shared with STEAM specialist principal and assistant principal.
Plan and curate the annual elementary science fair
Assist with special events as needed
Other duties as assigned by the elementary administration
