Campbell Hall Faculty Description

Job Description

The elementary science lab lead teacher will be an experienced dynamic nurturing member of the science faculty. The elementary science lab lead teacher will work in partnership with the science lab STEAM specialist teacher to implement a robust science curriculum for K6 students that embodies the mission of our school as an inclusive community of inquiry. Each K5 homeroom class 2 sections of 2325 students at each grade level) attends science lab once per week Three sections of 6th grade with 20 students per section attend science lab twice a week. The elementary science lab lead teacher works in partnership with the elementary administration and with the secondary science department chair as needed.

Responsibilities include:

Requirements and desired skills knowledge and abilities:

  • Minimum Bachelors degree or higher with at least three years of science teaching experience preferably with grades K6
  • Strong background in an inquiry approach to science education and in curriculum design including interdisciplinary and projectbased learning
  • Experience following developing enhancing and delivering a robust science curriculum to K6 students in whole group small group and individually
  • Experience with technology integration and the use of scientific tools and technology (including 3D printers smartboard microscopes powertools data analysis software Google tools etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Patience and creativity when working collaboratively with a range of constituent groups including students families faculty staff and administration from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience communicating and meeting with parents and providing detailed databased information about student growth in academics and behavior
  • Experience with providing effective timely proactive communication with families about the growth of their child
  • Flexible patient nurturing and collaborative; exudes a sense of wonder and joy for science education
