SALEM ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL OVERVIEWSalem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston offering a rigorous college preparatory program to nearly 500 students in grades 612. POSITION SUMMARY & OVERVIEWSalem Academy seeks an excellent English Language Arts Teacher who is committed to raising student achievement through an integration of rigorous college preparatory classes with service to the community. Ideal candidates will have experience fostering effective inclusion practices and a safe positive and respectful class and school culture. Candidates should be passionate about SACSs mission and vision and have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student body.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Working with and for Students:Aligning curricular standards with state guidelinesMonitoring student progress through standardsbased assessmentsAnalyzing student dataDifferentiating instructionTeaching 4 English classes per day (with 2 periods reserved for preparation and collaboration)Tutoring one day per week after schoolSupport plan and/or colead ServiceLearning projectsAdvising students through daily Connections class (homeroom)Input academic and behavioral data on the school data management systemAnalyze student data and monitor student progress through standardsbased assessmentsWorking with and for Families:Participate in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences three times per yearCommunicate regularly with families about academic and social progressCohost IEP meetingsWorking with and for Colleagues:Build and maintain strong school culture centered on student achievementWork collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school missionParticipate in weekly professional development sessionsParticipate in weekly gradelevel team meetingsInputting academic and behavioral data on the school data management systemWho You Are:You are a skilled educator. You have at least 13 years of experience teaching English. You understand the importance of culturally responsive education. You are committed to standardsbased teaching and learning.You are unapologetically focused on student outcomes. You work to build studentcentered learning environments. You respond reactively and proactively to the academic and socialemotional needs of students in their classrooms. You have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student body.You are values aligned. You are passionate about Salem Academy Charter Schools mission and vision.You bring people together and build community. You recognize the assets and community cultural wealth of all students families and staff. You have experience fostering effective inclusion practices and a safe positive and respectful class and school culture.
