POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the Head Coach in the effective delivery of sports/activity coaching to K12 secondary school age children. Provides sports activity supervision training and coaching to student athletes as assigned by the Head Coach. Develops individuals according to their abilities and encourages them to sustain activity levels. Delivers core movement and sport specific skills training. This position reports to Head Coach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs and coaches K12 students on the fundamentals of sports. Works with the coaching staff with setting rules policies and regulations for the team.
Assists Head Coach in making systematic issuance of equipment. Assists Head Coach with coordinating and monitoring tryouts.
Assists Head Coach with coordinating and supervising practice schedule. Assists in the supervisory control over athletes and teams assigned.
Guides and encourages secondary school age student athletes to make appropriate decisions about further participation in sport(s) at a level appropriate to their ability.
Works closely with other staff to coordinate completion and opportunities. Initiates where appropriate.
Works with other partners to help monitor the impact of delivery and healthy lifestyles.
All other duties as assigned and required in order to perform the above services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The GHSA requires that all community coaches complete the PREPARE/ First Aid and the Principles for Coaching exams within three 3 months of their class date. Prospective coaches are not allowed to coach until both exams have been successfully completed. Understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations presented by the GHSA.
All community coaches are required to meet all policiesand regulations in accordance with the GHSAConstitution and ByLaws. The GHSA stronglyrecommends all community coach prospects be 21 yearsof age or older.
Ability to manage projects and duties with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively manage time and priorities. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Georgia High School Association Coaching exam required.
Analytical: emphasize safety precautions; be aware of best training procedures and injury preventative actions.
Requires regular frequent contact with internal and external personnel and decisionmaking responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with intraorganizational teams.
Responsible for multiple functions of supervision (athletes equipments and staff as needed) with a highlevel accountability for effective operation and results.
Variable work environment Office Setting School grounds Stadiums.
Requires frequent travel for offsite competition/training locations
Work requires physical effort 70 of the time or more outdoors.
Moderate to lifting based on sport.
