The Public Health Sciences Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Post Doctoral Associate.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintains substantial knowledge of stateoftheart principles and theories. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions. Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
MD or Ph.D. in relevant field
Knowledge Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in collecting organizing and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize analyze and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Department Specific Functions
Research and Development:Develop and apply AI and machine learning models to analyze largescale cancer datasets including genomics transcriptomics and proteomics data.
Data Integration:Integrate multimodal data (e.g. singlecell RNA sequencing spatial omics) to uncover new insights into cancer biology and therapy.
Algorithm Development:Create and refine algorithms for predictive modeling biomarker discovery and patient stratification.
Collaboration:Work closely with clinical and translational scientists to translate computational findings into clinical applications.
Publication and Presentation:Publish research findings in highimpact journals and present at scientific conferences.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:Ph.D. in bioinformatics computational biology computer science or a related field.
Technical Skills:Proficiency in programming languages such as Python R and MATLAB. Experience with machine learning frameworks and bioinformatics tools.
Research Experience:Strong background in computational modeling cancer genomics and highthroughput data analysis.
Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and dissemination of research findings.
Example Projects:
Developing deep learning models to analyze spatial singlecell profiles.
Using large language models (LLMs) to extract information from scientific literature.
Integrating multiomics data to identify therapeutic targets and predict drug responses
