Job Description:
STC is potentially seeking a highly motivated Operations Support Orbit Analyst to work with the NOAA Office of Space Commerce (OSC) in the Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) operations center performing monitoring and analysis of space traffic products and computational processes. The operations center will be staffed 24/7 therefore shift work should be expected.
Specific duties will include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and collaborate with OSC operations personnel in the provision of space situational awareness (SSA) safety services
- Respond to operational issues relating to SSA space traffic coordination (STC) and space traffic management (STM) services and to technical issues associated with the OSC Operations Center and TraCSS system to ensure the safety and stability of the space operating environment.
- Participate in the development of procedures operational displays and other job aids and ensure that they are in place and effective for TraCSS operational needs and technical troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with commercial operators to take appropriate actions to ensure continued provision of SSA safety services.
- Coordinate with DoD as required in the of mission operations.
- Participate in the development of training materials and training activities to support onboarding of members of the government and commercial operational teams.
Requirements
Understanding of SSA data and basic space traffic safety services.
510 years of experience/knowledge of satellite operations space situational awareness (SSA) space traffic coordination (STC) or space traffic management (STM) related topics. Experience/knowledge of orbital mechanics/orbit analysis computational methods and tools. Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical staff government and commercial organizations.
Yearly assessment will be required to be certified as qualified to perform duties to ensure proficiency of skill set.
Ability to secure and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
Education:
Bachelors Degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering Flight Dynamics Physical Sciences Space Applications or related field.
