Job Description

Overview

Transitions by CareSense is seeking a qualified dynamic and successful individual. The Addictions Counselor is responsible to assess diagnose treat and counsel individuals and families affected by substance abuse; provide DUI instruction as required by diversion develop and implement prevention educational activities in support of community awareness and treatment programs.

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement curriculum for a variety of groups
  • Assessment andidentification of specific needs
  • individual and group sessions
  • Treatment planning/referrals/discharge planning
  • Monitor client progress and adherence to treatment plan
  • Maintain client files and case documentation in accordance with related policies
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and agencies.
  • Utilize/make referrals to assist client in plans for education vocational training employment housing transportation medical mental health etc
  • Take random UAs on clients and submit to testing lab
  • Prepare and submit required forms and reports related to programs and activities
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundariesprofessionalism and ethical behavior with clients families and other professionals.
  • Maintains strict client confidentiality in accordance with applicable rules and regulations
  • Follow all safety and procedures for work areas
  • Maintain proficiency by attending trainings and meetings reading materials and meeting with all others in areas of responsibility
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner

Physical Demands of Positions

While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to sit stand bend kneel stoop communicate reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files books office equipment etc. and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50 of the work period while operating equipment such a computer keyboard calculator and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones personal interruptions and background noises.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to volunteers students and newly assigned personnel on site policies and practices.

Supervision received

Works under the direction of the Alcohol & Drug Clinical Supervisor.

Hours

Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Friday 8:30am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and apply the programs clinical philosophy
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of substance abuse diagnosis treatment and prevention: counseling and interviewing techniques: the dynamics of interpersonal relationships and community resources/programs
  • Masters Degreeand two(2 years experience
  • Preferred License Possession of CAADC
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple requests and duties
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Good communication skills
