Job Description

Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Community Engagement and Enrollment Strategy the Director Community Involvement Program leads the University of the Pacifics Community Involvement Program CIP a comprehensive needbased scholarship and retention program for firstgeneration college students from the Stockton community and Pacific PROMISE Scholars an initiative that assists former foster and homeless youth in their transition and success at the University. These efforts are grounded in an understanding of the principles of student development the unique characteristics of this firstgeneration lowincome student population marginalized identity development leadership and the mission and policies of the University.

Essential Functions
Administers and oversees the operations of CIP . Serves as Director of the Community Involvement Program supervising CIP professional staff members developing and implementing objectives for the retention of local CIP Scholars. Provide direct student services that include academic enrichment support monthly student meetings and intrusive advising as well as referrals to relevant campus and community resources to enhance retention and persistence of program participants. Develop and manage staff and conducts annual performance reviews. Design and implement initiatives using student development theories. Partnering with the Alumni Association to establish and strengthen support and involvement of program alumni and advise the CIP Alumni Network. Provide leadership and strategic direction to enact Pacifics growing pipeline partnerships. Collects interprets and reports data and updates about CIPs operations budgets and student performance. Administers CIP scholarship and housing grant funds in collaboration with immediate supervisor and the Office of Financial Aid. Identifies and seeks external funding through soliciting gift income and augmenting the program endowment by collaborating with immediate supervisor Alumni Sponsored Programs and the Advancement Office. Responsible for all reports to donors as outlined in donor agreements and MOUs. Serves as the director of the Pacific PROMISE Scholars for University of the Pacific students who are homeless or from the foster care system. Establish and maintains a collaborative working relationship with key community partners (i.e. social service agencies other postsecondary educational institutions etc. and campus representatives to best serve the interests of Pacific students who are from the target populations. Establishes yearly program goals objectives and student learning outcomes monitors and assesses effectiveness of program activities and services for on campus and external funding reporting purposes. Track student engagement and development providing intervention and follow up to increase student retention. Conducts department meetings with staff on weekly basis to share information and to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished. Develops and monitors budgets and approves expenditures. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. This position serves as Campus Security Authority CSA as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them University of the Pacific recognizes that diversity equity and inclusion is foundational to the success of our valued students and employees. We prioritize policy and decisionmaking that demonstrates awareness of and responsiveness to the ways sociocultural forces related to race gender ability sexuality socioeconomic status etc. impede or propel students faculty and staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in student affairs higher education psychology or related field. Four 4 years of progressive professional higher education experience in direct underrepresented student retention. Three 3 years of experience in direct student support services working with lowincome firstgeneration college students and individuals with disabilities in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in higher education or related field. Familiarity with Development and Donor Relations in higher education. Knowledge of Enrollment Strategy and commitment to outreach access retention and success of underrepresented students. Strong communication skills to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Experience developing programmatic partnerships with academic and administrative departments student organizations and community groups. Effective analytical skills to evaluate program requirements information or problems in an objective manner and provide logical conclusions. Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management. Professional experience with marginalized communities and the ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices in their work. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
