Job Description
A position has been declared open in the Weber School District atWest Haven Elementary for an Elementary Aide (Emphasis/es: Recess and Classroom Support). This paraprofessional position is for4.00 hours per day 9 months per year.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the principal and teacher(s) the Elementary Aide assists teachers in a variety of capacities in the instruction and supervision of students. Attendance physical presence and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position. As school needs change your job description and essential functions could change from year to year to include Playground Lunchroom Classroom STEM Art etc.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
- Assists in the instruction of students and other classroom activities as needed.
- May tutor students individually or in small groups under the direction of the teacher.
- Assists with physical and emotional maintenance of students with disabilities including assessing curriculum and participating in school or classroom activities.
- Assist students needing supplemental help with various school subjects and programs.
- Assist in the administration of a variety of tests and monitor students academic progress.
- Keeps accurate data on assigned students or groups of students.
- Supports a school environment that helps students develop and maintain a positive selfconcept.
- Support classroom behavior management to maintain a positive and focused learning environment.
- Maintains professional confidentiality regarding student information.
- Maintains effective and positive communication with students teachers parents patrons and administration.
- Positive interaction with students teachers social workers psychologists support personnel and administrators.
- Assists in school events at the direction of the principal
- Requires ability to work effectively with staff and students
- Requires ability to exercise emotional control in difficult situations.
- Requires ability to solve a variety of problems relating to individual student needs and behaviors. Problem solving is guided by policies and procedures set by administration and the licensed teachers.
- Requires knowledge of and assistance for the safety and security of students assigned to the classroom (e.g. helping students on and off buses on a rotating schedule supervising play activities field trips and lunches).
- Effectively implements interventions and strategies as outlined in Individualised Education Plans (IEP) Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) or other student success plans.
- Collects behavior data and provides reports and/or graphs of the data to school personnel for use in developing behavior intervention plans.
- Provides feedback about specific student needs.
- May assist in onthejob training to other paraeducators as appropriate.
- Responds to critical situations in a variety of locations on a temporary as needed basis.
- Demonstrates flexibility the ability to work independently and problem solve.
- During times of emergency all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities.
- Supervision of a student in a location outside the classroom as needed.
- Participate in professional development as directed by your administrator.
- Must be able to work assigned hours.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administrator.

Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable recess experience for elementary school students. This role involves supervising outdoor activities promoting positive social interactions and contributing to a secure and inclusive play environment.
Essential Functions:
- Supervision:
- Supervise students during outdoor recess periods to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor student behavior intervening when necessary to address conflicts or ensure adherence to rules.
- Promote positive social interactions and encourage inclusive play.
- Enforce safety rules and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Be vigilant for potential hazards on the playground and take prompt action to address them.
- Mediate minor conflicts among students promoting peaceful resolution.
- Report significant behavioral issues or incidents to school administrators or teachers.
- Foster a positive and respectful atmosphere during recess.
- Encourage and facilitate inclusive play activities that engage students of varying interests and abilities.
- Organize and oversee structured games or activities to enhance the recess experience.
- Report any unusual behavior or patterns to school staff.
- Collaborate with school staff during emergency drills or realtime situations.

Responsible for assisting teachers in the effective delivery of instruction and ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment for elementary school students. They collaborate with classroom teachers and other educational professionals to enhance the educational experience for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oneonone or small group instruction to students as directed by the teacher.
- Reinforce concepts introduced by the teacher and help students with classwork and assignments.
- Support classroom discipline and behavior management by reinforcing established rules and expectations.
- Help maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Provide additional support for students who are struggling academically or require extra help.
- Prepare instructional materials visual aids and classroom displays.
- Organize and maintain educational resources such as textbooks supplies and technology.
- Stay informed about best practices in education and special education.
- Promote a culturally sensitive and inclusive classroom environment that respects diversity and fosters acceptance among students.
Physical Requirements (including but not limited to the following):
- Must be able to:
- Remain in a stationary position 50 of the time.
- Move about inside and outside the school to access files students and machinery.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator copy machine computer computer printer.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder/stairs to access high objects or different levels of the building.
- Constantly positions self to maintain files students or objects.
- Have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Have the ability to observe details at close and far range.
- Frequently move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the classroom for various needs.
- May work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Aides in Special Education and P.E. may be required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
