High School Science Teacher Role Description
Position Overview
The Highlands School is an independent Catholic college prep school serving families from all over the Dallas Metroplex. We are looking to expand our team of Christ centered educators in the following discipline(s):
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- Is a faithful Christian (practicing Catholic preferred)
- Has experience teaching Biology (Honors and AP Bio preferred)
- Has a bachelors degree (postgraduate degree and certification preferred)
- Has a gift for inspiring students and transmitting scientific knowledge
- Encourages assesses monitors and records the progress of individual students.
- Creates and maintains an effective and respectful learning environment for his/her students
- Joyfully implements the ideals principles and teaching methodology of the school.
- Models professionalism and exemplifies a spirit of initiative
- Serves as an authentic Christian witness through his/her words and deeds
- Possesses excellent communication and organizational skills
- Planning preparing and delivering lessons and lesson plans
- Marking work and giving timely and appropriate feedback; communicating any issues to parents and your supervisor
- Maintaining appropriate records of student progress and development including report cards
- Supervising and maintaining discipline among the students both inside and outside the classroom
- Maintaining an effective and formative learning environment according to school guidelines
- Keeping up to date with developments in his/her subject area
- Devising and adapting resources to suit the formation needs of his/her students
- Preparing students for and proctoring standardized tests
- Assisting in the preparation and coordination of classroombased and schoolwide celebrations activities academic contests and formation programs
- Managing student behavior in the classroom and on school grounds applying appropriate and effective motivational discipline measures in cases of inappropriate behavior; informing the Dean of Student Life in a timely manner of any student behavior infractions.
- Participating in regular oneonone gradelevel and departmental meetings; participating in parent/teacher meetings parents conference etc. as directed by your supervisor.
- Continuing to grow in personal and professional development; actively participating in all school sponsored training activities
Reporting Structure
- The High School Teacher will report to the HS Principal.
