Job Description

Overview

Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility is an accredited specialty hospital that provides inpatient and residential psychiatric care that serves the acute psychiatric and substance userelated disorder needs of children adolescents and young adults.

The Kennedy unit is a residential unit that provides the most intensive level of therapeutic care to individuals ages 5 to 21. The Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility provides therapeutic care that is familydriven youthguided communityoriented traumainformed and culturally and linguistically competent.

As a member of an interdisciplinary team provides continuous care and supervision of patients to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities

  1. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse assists with routine patient care activities including: assisting patient with activities of daily living obtaining clinical data (vital signs height and weight collecting specimens) and performing point of care.
  2. Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment emptying linen bags etc.
  3. Assists visitors and answer telephones.
  4. Follows and participates in patients plan of care.
  5. Assists with the management of aggressive patients.
  6. Assists in monitoring and/or care of patients who require close observation (suicidal/elopement risks patients in restraints and/or seclusion).
  7. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to establish goals and restrictions of privileges based on the patients behavior and level of care.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in mental health or human services related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or mental health preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills desired with the ability to work collaboratively as member of multidisciplinary team.
  • Complete required Workplace Violence Prevention Training within 6 months of hire.
